You want to see clients in person, but you don’t want a long-term lease, a full-time commitment, or an office you’re paying for whether you show up or not. So you wonder: which plans include access to hourly office rentals?
Two plans do. The Bumblebee ($19/month) and the Honeybee ($149/month) both give you access to private, bookable therapy offices at TherapyHive’s 5th Avenue location in Manhattan. Everything else, including the free Hive Directory membership and the Carpenter Bee plan, doesn’t include office access.
That’s the short answer. Choosing between two plans that both unlock the same offices, though? That’s where it gets interesting.
Why Does Hourly Office Access Matter More Than Ever?
Private practice used to mean fully remote or fully in-person. That line has blurred beyond recognition.
According to Thriveworks’ 2025 Pulse on Mental Health Report, 48% of Americans are planning to seek therapy in the coming year. That’s increased by 5% from 2024. Hybrid practices that combine online and in-person care are the new standard.
Your clients want options.
Some clients prefer the ease of a video call for their weekly check-ins. Others need the weight of sitting in a room with someone. Many want both: telehealth when life is busy and in-person when things get heavy. A therapist who can offer that flexibility is just more useful to people.
But maintaining a full-time office for that level of in-person demand is hard to justify financially; you’d be paying for square footage on the days your clients are logging in from home. Hourly office access solves exactly that problem. You book what you need, when you need it, and that’s it.
The Bumblebee Plan: Low Entry, Real Access
The Bumblebee plan is $19/month, and that’s just the membership fee. On top of that, you pay an hourly rate each time you book.
Hourly rates on the Bumblebee:
- Interior offices: $49/hour
- Mid-tier/window offices: $59/hour
- Primo/window offices: $64/hour
The Bumblebee also includes your profile listing in the Hive Directory and access to the therapist-only Discussion Forum. So, along with office time, you’re also getting visibility with potential clients and a professional community, all for $19 a month.
This plan makes sense if you see clients in person occasionally, a few sessions a week, rather than every day. You keep your monthly overhead low and only spend money on office time when you actually use it.
The Honeybee Plan: More Per Month, Less Per Hour
The Honeybee plan is $149/month. The membership fee is higher, but the per-hour office rates drop significantly.
Hourly rates on the Honeybee:
- Interior offices: $35/hour
- Mid-tier/window offices: $45/hour
- Primo/window offices: $49/hour
That’s $14 to $15 cheaper per hour than the Bumblebee. If you’re booking office time regularly, those savings add up quickly.
The Honeybee also includes two things the Bumblebee doesn’t offer:
- A professional 5th Avenue business address. Your practice address shows up on your insurance panels, your Psychology Today profile, your website, and your license renewal. Using a home address is a privacy risk, and a 220 Fifth Avenue address signals an established practice while keeping your personal information protected.
- Monthly mail forwarding. Documents, correspondence, and insurance notices, all forwarded to you each month from a Manhattan address.
There’s one more thing worth knowing about the Honeybee: it’s compliant with DEA and state registration requirements. The Honeybee is a convenient plan for psychiatric nurse practitioners and psychiatrists who need a verified office address for prescribing purposes.
How to Choose: A Simple Way to Think About It
Here’s a simple way to figure out which plan fits your practice.
Start with how many hours you actually plan to use the office each month. Be honest about it, not aspirational but actual.
At the Bumblebee rate, you’re paying $49/hour for an interior office plus $19/month. At the Honeybee rate, it’s $35/hour plus $149/month.
The crossover point is roughly 9 to 10 hours of office use per month. Below that, the Bumblebee costs less overall, and above that, the Honeybee starts saving you money.
Ten hours a month is about two and a half hours per week. If your in-person caseload is already there or growing toward it, the Honeybee will pay for itself, and then some.
If you’re just starting to build your in-person presence, or you only see clients face-to-face occasionally, Bumblebee gives you access without overcommitting to the monthly fee.
What You’re Actually Booking
Both plans unlock the same offices, so it’s worth knowing what you’re actually walking into.
TherapyHive is located at 220 Fifth Avenue in the historic Croisic Building, steps from Madison Square Park in the Flatiron District. The entry to the suite is keyless through the KISI app, which is set up during your onboarding.
Three types of offices are available:
- Interior offices: Private, fully furnished, soundproofed. The starting rate on the Bumblebee is $49/hour.
- Mid-tier/window offices: Natural light, city views, the same professional setup. $59/hour on Bumblebee.
- Primo/window offices: Top-tier Fifth Avenue window offices. $64/hour on Bumblebee.
Every office comes with high-speed Wi-Fi, dimmable lighting, solar shades, and acoustically sealed walls.
Booking hours run from 7 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday, and 8 am to 5:30 pm on Saturdays. The minimum booking is two hours per session, and active members can book as little as 60 minutes before their start time or as far out as two months in advance.
Group Practices: Adding Team Members
Both plans support group practices. You can add team members to either the Bumblebee or Honeybee plan for $9/month per person. Each member gets their own KISI building access, and they can book offices independently under your group account.
To add team members, just notify TherapyHive at info@therapyhivenyc.com so access can be set up for each person. Each member can also get their own Hive Directory listing if they want one under a separate individual account.
Find the Right Plan for Your Practice
Both plans open the same doors, literally. The decision comes down to how often you plan to walk through them.
The Bumblebee is the right starting point if you occasionally see clients in person. The Honeybee makes more sense if you’re in the office regularly, need a professional mailing address, or you’re a prescriber with DEA registration requirements.
TherapyHive was designed for practice that doesn’t fit neatly into “fully remote” or “full-time in-person.” Both plans give you the flexibility to meet clients where they need you, without having to pay for the days you don’t use the office.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do both the Bumblebee and Honeybee plans include office access?
Yes. Both give you access to book private hourly offices at TherapyHive’s 5th Avenue location. The difference is in the monthly fee, the per-hour rate, and what extra features come with each.
Can I use the offices without a TherapyHive membership?
No. Hourly office booking is only available to active Bumblebee and Honeybee members. The free Hive Directory membership and the Carpenter Bee plan don’t include office access.
Is the Honeybee plan worth the higher monthly cost?
It depends on how often you use the office. At roughly 9 to 10 hours per month, the Honeybee’s lower hourly rates start to offset the higher membership fee, and above that, it’s saving you money every month.
What’s included in the Honeybee that isn’t in the Bumblebee?
You get a professional 5th Avenue business address with monthly mail forwarding, lower per-hour office rates, and compliance with DEA and state registration requirements for prescribers.
What’s the minimum amount of time I can book an office?
The minimum is two hours per session. You can book up to two months in advance or as little as 60 minutes before your start time.
Can therapists in a group practice share one membership?
You can add team members to either plan for $9/month per person. Each member gets their own KISI building access and can book offices independently under the group account.
What happens if I need to cancel a booking?
If you cancel more than 48 hours before your session, you’ll receive a credit valid for six months toward future bookings. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable.
